How Will You Measure Your Life?

This week's readings have been great! I had some insightful moments as I was reading and watching the homework. I was pondering on what kind of life I wanted to live. I am grateful that I am learning this in this class. I think it helps us students really ponder what we want out of life and what is most important. Here are the things that stood out to me the most. 1. "How Will You Measure Your Life" By Clayton M. Christensen In this article, Christensen gives three questions that refer to life and how to live it. "First, how can I be sure that I’ll be happy in my career? Second, how can I be sure that my relationships with my spouse and my family become an enduring source of happiness? Third, how can I be sure I’ll stay out of jail?" That made me think a bit. I know that when we are at the end of life and look back on the life we led, what is most important? I know that most people will think back on their family relationships and some will be sorry and some wil...

Honesty and Ethics in Business

This week was a good one for anyone to learn or be aware of. That is learning about honesty and business ethics. I want to be honest in all I do and I know it can be hard to be completely honest in the business world. A lot of people have a hard time owning up to things they may have done that was wrong or something they may have said that was wrong or unkind.  I believe in God and the morals He has set for us. I believe that if I follow those morals I will be happy and if there is something that happens that I will have a clear conscience. There are a couple things that most resonated with me. I will just list them below and what I learned. 1. " Making a Living, Making a Life"  By Elder Lynn G. Robbins In this talk Elder Robbins talks about "the love of money is the root of all evil" (1 Timothy 6:10). He talks about money not being evil itself but it's our intentions of the heart. He also refers to different types of people where money is concerned.      A. Thi...

Time Running Out

I read this line and it hit me. "The ultimate horror is not death. The ultimate horror is to wake up at age fifty-five or sixty and realize that you have wasted your life; either that time has slipped past while your dreams waited, or that you never had any dreams at all." (Stars & Steppingstones: Some choices only come around once. By Jeff Sandefer) Right now I am 45 and the things that I have been wanting to do are happening but not to the extent that it could. Reading that line and thinking that 55 is only 10 years away is eye-opening.  I created a bucket list a few years ago of the things that I would like to do in my lifetime. Randomly I would look at it and think that it would be cool to accomplish more of the things on my list. I am grateful that I have been able to cross a few things from the list. For an assignment in class, we had to come up with 50 bucket list items. I already had about 25 already and added more to the list. It took some time but I did it. Here...

What Is the Purpose?

This blog is created for the purpose of getting my thoughts out on "paper" so that I can record the journey of becoming a better entrepreneur and to capture the process I go through to get there.  The start of this blog correlates to a class I am taking through BYU Pathway Worldwide. It is BUS 110  Introduction to Entrepreneurship .  Lessons Learned Since I have started my bachelor's degree the first thing that I have learned was to involve the Lord in all I am doing. I learned that, even though the specifics of what I am learning is not important to Him, the fact it is important to me is. It is a way for me to act for myself and to get His help. I learned that I should involve Him in everything I am learning. There was one time (before I started my bachelor's) I was taking a test and I had studied for it. I remember praying to my Heavenly Father that I did everything I needed to do to be ready for the test and that I asked Him to help me remember all that I studied. ...
